Compilations for Building Codes, Fences, Masonry and Structural Glazing

It may be a house, an office, or a new local ice cream parlor. Whatever the building, it's an intricate work of interconnected parts and processes that depend on standards, from foundation and floor to structural support and ceiling. With new editions of time-honored ASTM International standards compilations focused on building construction now available, ASTM designers, suppliers, contractors and inspectors can refer to these standards in handy resources.

Building Codes

ASTM Standards in Building Codes contains standards used to design and construct buildings that meet requirements of various code organizations, including the International Code Council. With 300+ new standards added this year, more than 1,800 standard tests, specifications, practices and guides in the collection cover the inside and outside of buildings, and everything in between. Several code groups - ICC, the National Building Code of Canada, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, the National Fire Protection Association and more - reference the documents, which come from 55 volumes of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. New in this edition are standards referenced in green construction codes, the Structural Welding Code, UL (formerly Underwriters Laboratories) global standards and the National Roofing Contractors Association.

Fences

ASTM Standards for Fence Materials and Products: 12th Edition, provides a resource for fence manufacturers, contractors, suppliers, architects, designers and engineers. The 49 standards address materials for fences such as chain link, wire fabric and wood; applications such as playgrounds, sports fields and detention facilities; and fittings and coatings, plus standards that detail fence construction and installation. The compilation comes either in book form or on CD-ROM.

Masonry

Standards for concrete and building brick, hollow and solid masonry units, and mortars and grouts deliver a wealth of relevant technical information through more than 100 ASTM International standards rolled into one work. The volume, ASTM Masonry Standards for the Building Industry: 7th Edition, compiles documents from three volumes of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. Specifications address a variety of products and component materials; test methods describe how to sample and test products and their properties; and practices and guides address specimen preparation, proper use of test methods and specifications, and more. The work is available in print or CD-ROM.

Structural Glazing

Silicone adhesives attach glass or metal to a building, and they get the full treatment in ASTM Standards and Technical Articles Relating to Structural Glazing. In print or on CD-ROM, the work compiles standards and technical articles in one resource: a dozen ASTM standard specifications, test methods, practices and terminology for using these adhesives, plus more than 40 sealant-related papers selected from ASTM Special Technical Publications. And, technical reports on sealant durability, creep and fatigue resistance and adhesion, and two ASTM Standardization News features appear in the work.
