Collaboration Areas Enhanced

Online Member Workspace for Standards Development Upgraded

You may have noticed that your online collaboration areas got an upgrade.

The new ASTM International Collaboration Areas are more useful and intuitive in supporting your standards development work.

The collaboration areas now reside on ASTM International’s SpecBuilder platform. The collaboration areas have great tools: share files, track projects, receive/send notifications.  You can work on standards with your task group anytime, anywhere.

When you log in to MyASTM and choose MyCollaboration Areas, you’ll access — as you did before — your online work areas for proposed standards and revisions to standards. One section includes your areas listed alphabetically, and another section shows your recent activity.

A new feature allows a task group to conduct informal, unofficial votes on drafts and revisions with a polling area, complete with emailed reminders.

In sum, you have tabs for Drafts, Polls, Discussions, and Files plus links for members, emailing members (some or all), history, and scheduling an online meeting.

The Email Settings option (a yellow button at the right of the screen) gives you control over your email notifications.

If you are the technical contact or are in charge of a collaboration area, you also have a yellow Administer link which allows you to manage the area, polls, and drafts. You’ll see screens and questions/fill-in lines that guide each of those functions.

Have questions? Participate in a free online training on the new collaboration areas: Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. EDT, or Thursday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. EDT. For more information, contact your staff manager. If you have technical problems, visit https://www.astm.org/contact.
