ASTM To Be Represented at APEC-ASEAN Workshop

Event Scheduled for March 5-7 in Lima, Peru

Representatives from ASTM International will be among the speakers at a workshop, "Sharing Experiences in the Design and Implementation of Green Building Codes," to be held in Lima, Peru, March 5-7. The workshop is being co-sponsored by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The purpose of the APEC-ASEAN workshop is to bring together representatives from 24 economies in the Asia Pacific region to promote sustainable building practices and the application of green building codes, as well as to strengthen the partnerships among the economies. Participants will be able to interact with leaders in the global building regulatory and green building community to learn about the standards, codes, regulations and conformance practices in place and under development in the Asia Pacific region. The workshop sessions will provide a greater understanding of how these tools fit into the broader sustainability landscape.

James Olshefsky, director, external relations, ASTM, will be speaking on how standards are developed to support needs in codes.

ASTM member Rick Layton, global account manager, Haines, Jones and Cadbury, Rogers, Ark., will speak on water reclamation. Layton, a member of ASTM International Committee E60 on Sustainability, chairs task group E60.01.13 on Sustainability Related to Water.
