ASTM D19 Subcommittee Chairman Presents at Turkish Events

On Dec. 7, 2012, Jay Gandhi, Ph.D., regulatory affairs manager for Metrohm USA, and chairman, ASTM International Subcommittee D19.05 on Inorganic Constituents in Water, part of Committee D19 on Water, presented at the engineering-focused ENSUTEK 1st International Industrial Water Technologies Symposium and Fair in Bursa, Turkey.

Gandhi's presentation, "Water: A Perspective on Sustainability of this Essential Commodity," covered standards from ASTM Committee D19. Discussion included the use of D19 standards by the public sector in regulation as well as by the private sector.

Gandhi also conducted an outreach visit to the Turkish Standards Institution, Turkey's national standards body and an ASTM memorandum of understanding partner since 2003. Gandhi's presentation on Dec. 12, 2012, was made to more than 15 participants representing TSE staff, as well as government representatives from ministries of agriculture, health and environment. The presentation included an overview of ASTM International and Committee D19 as well as the application of ASTM D19 standards by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
