Papers Invited for ASTM International Symposium on Rolling Bearing Steels

Papers are invited the 12th International Symposium on Rolling Bearing Steels – Progress in Bearing Steel Metallurgical Testing and Quality Assurance, May 15-17, 2019, at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, Colorado, USA. The symposium is sponsored by ASTM International committee on steel, stainless steel, and related alloys (A01) and will be held in conjunction with the May standards development meetings of the committee.

The objective of the symposium is to bring together rolling bearing steel practitioners to present the latest developments in rolling bearing steels and testing. Papers from steelmakers, semi-finished and finisher bearing steel component producers, rolling bearing producers, rolling bearing users, and development institutes are encouraged.

Papers are invited on, but not limited to the following topics:

  • Use of fracture mechanics in bearing steel testing and quality assurance,
  • Dimensional stability testing and specification requirements,
  • Advances in rolling contact fatigue testing and standardization,
  • Bearing steel quality assessment developments,
  • Steel internal cleanliness effects on the bearing service life performance,
  • Developments in ultrasound testing methodologies,
  • New alloy and heat treatment developments, and more.

To participate in the symposium, authors must submit a 250-300 word preliminary abstract no later than June 1, 2018. The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work discussed, pointing out material that is new, and present sufficient details regarding results. The presentation and manuscript must not be of a commercial nature nor can it have been previously published. Because a limited number of abstracts will be accepted, be sure that the abstract is complete to allow for careful assessment of the paper's suitability for this symposium. The symposium chairman will notify you via postal mail by August 3, 2018, of your paper’s acceptability for presentation at the symposium.

Abstract submission questions can be directed to Tessa Sulkes (see below). For technical information or questions, contact symposium chairman John Beswick.
