Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys
Staff Manager: W Scott Orthey
ASTM Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys was formed in 1898 and is ASTM's first technical committee. A01 meets twice a year, at the May and November ASTM Committee Weeks, with approximately 200 members attending over the four days of technical meetings. The Committee, with a membership of over 1300 industry professionals and experts, has jurisdiction of over 500 standards, published in January in six volumes of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards; Volumes 01.01, 01.02, 01.03, 01.04, 01.05 and 01.06. A01 has 22 technical subcommittees that maintain jurisdiction over these standards. Information on this subcommittee structure and A01's portfolio of approved standards and Work Items under development are available from the List of Subcommittees, Standards and Work Items below. Since 1898 these standards have, and continue to play, a preeminent role in all aspects relating to material specifications and test methods for steel, stainless and related alloys in their various product forms.
