New Test Method for Determination of Cannabinoid Concentration in Cannabis Using Low Pressure Liquid Chromatography
1. Scope
This test method allows for the quantification of cannabinoids in the Cannabis Sativa L plant by low pressure liquid chromatography (LC) coupled with ultraviolent (UV) detection. The test is designed to be conducted in the field or other remote areas where access to commercial analytical laboratories may be inaccessible or not feasible. Keywords
D9; D9THC; THCA; CBD; CBDA; cannabidiolic acid; cannabidiol; 9-tetrahydrocannabinol and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid; hemp; THC testing; CBD testing; cannabinoid measurement; HPLC; liquid chromatography; portable cannabis analyzer, Cannabinoid analysisRationale
Quantifying cannabinoid content in the plant Cannabis Sativa L typically requires collection of field samples and transportation to analyze in an accredited analytical testing laboratory. Laboratory analysis is the most accurate method to determine cannabinoid concentrations, however there are often situations where laboratory analysis is not feasible due to time, cost, or environmental constraints. This ballot is for a novel Standard Test Method that utilizes the same chromatographic principles and detection technology but includes additional technological parameters that enable field quantitation of plant samples for cannabinoids without the need for a controlled environment, reliable power. The result is significantly reduced costs and short time for analysis.
