Rationale

D3241-24 Standard Test Method for Thermal Oxidation Stability of Aviation Turbine Fuels is used to test aviation fuels around the world. This method currently lists two suppliers of consumables as “known to the committee.” It is in the interest of the Committee and the public to identify alternative suppliers of equivalent consumables to ensure supply and encourage innovation and competition. Metaspec, San Antonio, Texas, has developed a set of consumables for this test method and will request a revision to D3241 to list these consumables in the test method. A preliminary study was presented to the Committee and a Ballot was authorized in June, 2024.
