New Guide for Qualification Testing for Safety-Critical Systems in Space Flight
1. Scope
1.1 This Standard provides guidance for development and execution of qualification test activities of safety-critical hardware systems that will be used in commercial crewed/uncrewed space flight. When human safety is addressed within this guidance, it is inclusive of flight crew, ground crew, and public . For the purposes of this standard, it is the responsibility of the vehicle operator to identify safety critical systems and scope of operations. 1.2 This Standard is intended for new and current operators developing their own safety-critical system qualification programs. If designing a human-rated system, and no current standards are required, consider the guidance within this document, including any applicable information from the Referenced Documents section. 1.3 This Standard does not purport to address all safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.4 This Standard provides a non-exhaustive list of considerations for qualifying safety-critical systems used in commercial space flight. This guide will focus on hardware, covering both electrical and mechanical systems. This standard does not cover programmable hardware (e.g. software and firmware) [include document number for software standard when available].Keywords
