Rationale

D7464 Sections 5.1 and 10.2.3 use the term microbiologically influenced corrosion. However, the term is not defined. This ballot item proposes the insertion of a definition similar to the one provided in G193 Standard Terminology and Acronyms Relating to Corrosion (under the jurisdiction of Committee J01 Joint ASTM/NACE Committee on Corrosion). Terminology G193 uses the word corrosion in its definition. The proposed definition for D7464 does not. The proposed definition combines the Terminology corrosion and microbiologically influenced corrosion definitions.
