ASTM International Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Bhutan Standard Bureau
ASTM International has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bhutan Standards Bureau. The MOU was signed in March by James A. Thomas, president, ASTM International, and Phuntsho Wangdi, director general, Bhutan Standards Bureau.
The Bhutan Standards Bureau was established in 2010 following the enactment of the Bhutan Standards Act. The BSB fosters and promotes standards and standardization activities as a means of advancing the national economy; benefiting the health, safety and welfare of the public; assisting and protecting consumers; protecting the natural environment; promoting industrial efficiency and development; and facilitating trade internationally and domestically.
Initiated in 2001, ASTM International's MOU program promotes communication between ASTM and national standards bodies worldwide, fostering awareness of the standardization systems of all parties involved. More information about the MOU program can be found on the ASTM International website.
