Artificial Intelligence Policy: ASTM International prohibits the entry of ASTM standards and related ASTM intellectual property (“ASTM IP”) into any form of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT. Additionally, creating ----derivatives of ASTM IP using AI is also prohibited without express written permission from ASTM’s President. In the case of such use, ASTM will suspend a licensee’s access to ASTM IP, and further legal action will be considered.
New Test Method for Determining the Ventilation Efficiency of Engineered Polymeric Drainage and Ventilation Materials Used as Part of a Rainscreen Assembly

Scope 1.1 This test method determines the ventilation efficiency of polymeric drainage and ventilation materials when subjected to a pressure difference in the test assembly. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The inch-pound units given in parenthesis are for information only. 1.3 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
There are no existing standards dealing with this test method for polymeric drainage and ventilation materials. The current material specification contains this test method in Annex A and the test method needs to be split off from the material specification.
