New Test Methods for Standard Test Method for indentation hardness of steel by Shear Pin

1. Scope
This test method covers the determination of indentation hardness of steel, stainless steel, and related alloys (metallic materials) using an indenter, holder and a calibrated shear pin The Brinell hardness of the metallic material being tested can be estimated by comparing the indent diameter to a Brinell hardness value in a chart supplied by the manufacturer. Shear pin loading can be applied by either impact (hammer strike) or static (C clamp).
Keywords
