ASTM Now Accepting Applications for 2025 Graduate Scholarships

ASTM International is currently accepting applications for its 2025 Graduate Scholarship. The objective of the program is to enhance a student’s knowledge, understanding, and application of ASTM and its standards.

Criteria

The Graduate Scholarship is presented each year to as many as four high-potential graduate students, contingent upon merit and available funds. The scholarship rewards graduate students who have demonstrated high levels of interest or involvement with ASTM standards. During the year of the award (not necessarily at the time of application), the student must be accepted in a master’s or doctoral program from an accredited institution, or one that is recognized by the national responsible agency, and shall possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. All applicants must be proficient in the English language and pursuing studies in an appropriate curriculum related to the scope of the activities of ASTM International. Finalists chosen for consideration must agree to be interviewed, either by teleconference or virtual meeting.

Scholarship

Each recipient of the Graduate Scholarship shall receive $10,000 to be used for their educational expenses to include tuition, books, fees, and materials. Any unused scholarship funds shall be returned to ASTM at the end of the academic year. Each recipient is limited to two years of funding and must reapply to be eligible for funding for a second academic year. Scholarship recipients receive their award checks in late August. Each check is made payable to the recipient and mailed to the department head at the university the student is attending. The student should contact the department head to arrange to pick up his/her award.

Applications for the ASTM Graduate Scholarship must be submitted by April 30, 2025.

WISE Internship Offers Washington, D.C. Experience for Engineering Students

Applications are currently being accepted for the Washington Internship for Student of Engineering (WISE) program, which will happen in Washington, D.C., from June 2 through Aug. 1, 2025. Deadline for applications is Feb. 1.

Each summer, the WISE societies select outstanding third- or fourth-year engineering/computer science students, or students in engineering/computer science graduate programs, from a nationwide pool of applicants. The students spend nine (9) weeks living in Washington, D.C., during which time they learn how government officials make decisions on complex technological issues, and how engineers can contribute to the legislative process and regulatory public policy decision-making.

Founded in 1980, WISE prepares future leaders of the engineering profession who are aware of, and who can contribute to, the increasingly important issues at the intersection of science, technology, and public policy in the U.S.

The WISE program is sponsored by ASTM International and IEEE. For more information, and to apply, visit wise-intern.org.
