Ask the Expert Virtual Program Held for India Textile Industry

In its continuing efforts to spread awareness of textile testing and regulatory compliance to the worldwide textile community, ASTM International conducted a virtual "Ask the Experts" program on April 12. The session featured Allyson Tenney, team leader of the textile flammability team in the Office of Compliance and Field Operations at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The program was hosted by Jayakumar Gopalakrishnan, an ASTM International consultant in India and attended by laboratory heads and their teams from major third-party laboratories across Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Also attending were fabric manufacturers, suppliers, educational institution lea,ders and their students. Teresa Cendrowska, vice president, global cooperation, ASTM, and Chris Leonard, technical director, American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, were also involved in the presentation.

The program started with a presentation on 16 CFR 1610 – Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles, which was followed by a question and answer session.
