ASTM International and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers joined together to host a one-day workshop on Aug. 27 at the U.S. Trade Center, located at the U.S. embassy in Mexico City, Mexico. The title of the workshop was "Technology for Competitiveness in the North American Market: Technical Standards Global Impact."
The purpose of the workshop was to educate stakeholders interested in global trade, international standards and codes. More than 40 stakeholders attended the event.
ASTM planned and advertised the workshop in conjunction with the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology, with whom ASTM entered a cooperative agreement in 2010. In addition to ASTM and ASME, Intertek and ADS also participated in the presentations.
