ASTM Becomes an American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System Provider
Architects will now be able to benefit from ASTM International education courses focusing on construction and performance of buildings. ASTM has become an approved American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System Provider. ASTM will now be listed as an AIA CES Registered Provider for workshops and symposiums. ASTM course, particularly those in the construction and performance of buildings realm, will be listed in the AIA Course Directory, as well as in the CES Provider Connection newsletter.
AIA is the leading professional membership association for licensed architects and emerging professionals. AIA CES providers are able to build relationships with architects by offering quality education programs that emphasize new concepts and emerging industry trends. AIA CES-approved courses enable architects to fulfill AIA continuing education requirements and maintain state licensure.
"ASTM has enjoyed a long history of active participation from the design community in standards development, including both licensed architects and professional engineers," says ASTM and AIA member Daniel J. Lemieux, principal and unit manager, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc. Lemieux is the chairman of Subcommittee E06.55 on Performance of Building Enclosures, part of ASTM International Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings.
"The decision by ASTM to support the American Institute of Architects as a registered AIA CES provider is welcome news and represents a renewed commitment by ASTM to provide practicing architects with continuing education opportunities in health, safety and welfare that are truly unique to the workshops and symposia offered through ASTM," notes Lemieux.
