ASTM Chief China Representative Attends Indonesia Quality Month Celebration

Liu Fei, ASTM International's chief representative in China, attended the Indonesian Quality Month celebration held in Jakarta, Indonesia, Nov. 12-14. While there, he conducted special training on the ASTM standards system, processes, participation and global influence for approximately 40 standards and industry experts of Masyarakat Standardisasi Indonesia.
Liu also presented information about ASTM International standards that support energy efficiency in construction, electrical appliances and transportation at the workshop, Technology and Standards for Energy Efficiency. This special workshop, sponsored by the national standards body of Indonesia, Badan Standardisasi Nasional, was conducted for more than 90 participants from industry, academia, private institutes and government agencies. ASTM and BSN signed a memorandum of understanding in 2004.
While in Indonesia, Liu also visited with the secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to discuss existing and potential cooperation with ASEAN member nations.
