In November, ASTM global cooperation co-sponsored a workshop in Kampala, Uganda, on ASTM’s standard for denatured ethanol fuel for household appliances and cooking, E3050. 

The technical speakers for ASTM were Brady Luceno, (Director) and Dan Seals (Manager) of Committee E48 and POET International. The workshop was cosponsored by US Agency for International Development’s Standards Alliance and the Uganda National Bureau of Standards. 

The E3050 standard is a huge benefit in areas where electricity and natural gas fuels are unavailable, and cooking is done with wood or charcoal.
