ASTM Continues Support of Riverbend Environmental Education Center
Students from Whitehall Elementary in the Norristown School District search for macroinvertebrates in a stream as Betty Schultz, meetings and special events director, ASTM International, looks on.
ASTM International sponsors several field trips each year to the Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne, Pa., for local elementary schools in the Colonial, Norristown and Upper Merion school districts. The field trips are part of the children's classroom science and environment lessons. Riverbend's mission is to "teach environmental principles to children in Southeastern Pennsylvania through a direct connection with nature, inspiring respect for our natural world and action as aware, responsible and caring citizens."
On May 3, ASTM International sponsored a field trip for third graders from Whitehall Elementary School in the Norristown Area School District. The class trip featured a watershed lesson and model as well as activities in ponds and streams at Woodmont, an estate near Riverbend.
