ASTM Cosponsors U.S./German Standard Event
The American National Standards Institute and the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) co-hosted a U.S.-German standards panel event, "Innovation in the Medical Device Sector," on April 12. The event was cosponsored by ASTM International, the National Institute for Standards and Technology and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation. Discussions during the event provided viewpoints on recent developments in electronic medical records and the implications for standardization and public policy. Two ASTM members, Rod McMillian, materials development manager, DePuy Synthes; and Byron Hayes, biomaterials research and development, W.L. Gore and Associates Inc., spoke at the event.
