On June 25, ASTM International hosted a U.S. Trade and Development Agency reverse trade mission delegation from China on the topic of shale gas. The meeting was held in Washington, D.C., for representatives from the petroleum and natural gas department of the China National Energy Administration, and the departments of geological exploration and environmental impact assessment. Two provincial officials also joined the delegation. The topics covered included ASTM's international philosophy, standards development process and Subcommittee D18.26's progress on standards for hydraulic fracturing methods and materials.
