ASTM Launches Chinese Website
ASTM International has launched a website in simplified Chinese for Mandarin speakers and those with a general interest in ASTM International. The website features a landing page similar to the front page of www.astm.org, with additional information in simplified Chinese. Links to subsequent pages will yield information in English.
The Chinese site includes links to a translated version of ASTM eNews, a monthly electronic newsletter that is distributed to all ASTM members. ASTM eNews includes the latest headlines, standards development news from ASTM's technical committees, and links to new publications and upcoming symposia/workshops and training courses. The links in the newsletter will direct readers back to the English version of the ASTM website.
ASTM International has enjoyed a successful cooperation with standards organizations in China for many years and signed a memorandum of understanding with the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China in 2004. ASTM educates Chinese stakeholders about the standards development process and often provides training in China through staff at the ASTM International China office, which opened in 2005.
The purpose of the new website is to provide as much information as possible to standards developers and technical experts in China. ASTM welcomes any comments regarding the usability and value of the site. If you have any comments or questions, or are interested in learning more about an item on the site, please contact ASTM China representatives Liu Fei (phone: +86-10-5109-6033; fliu@astm.org); or Nancy Hu (phone: +86-10-5109-6033; nhu@astm.org).
