ASTM Present Textile Sustainability Virtual Session to Indian Students
ASTM International held a one-hour session for approximately 30 textile students from the Advanced Academy for the Development of Textile Technologists and the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology in India on Sept. 13.
Martin Bide, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, R.I., who serves on ASTM Committee D13 on Textiles, delivered the presentation on the current state of the sustainability movement and challenges for the future. Bide is a well-known speaker who served as president of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists from 2007 to 2008. Using ASTM's Web conferencing tools, Bide made the presentation from his home office in Rhode Island to the students in India.
