The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute board president, Greg Miller, Ph.D. (right), presented James A. Thomas, ASTM International president, with the Russell J. Eilers Award at the CLSI Leadership Conference and Educational Symposium held in March in Baltimore, Md. The annual award honors a CLSI volunteer who values the development of standards within a consensus driven process that balances the viewpoints of industry, government and the healthcare professions. Thomas, who served on the CLSI board and CEO search committee, has contributed to the board and serves as a mentor to the CLSI CEO. Thomas has also made ASTM International resources on the consensus standards development process and related areas available to CLSI.
