ASTM Staff Meet with Israeli Standards Officials

ASTM Standards for Solar Energy Are Discussed

ASTM International staff members Christine DeJong and James Olshefsky met with five officials from the Standards Institution of Israel and the Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor in Washington, D.C., on July 12. Since July 2007, when ASTM signed a memorandum of understanding with SII, almost 200 ASTM International standards have been used as the basis of national standards in Israel.

Much of the discussion during the meeting surrounded ASTM standards on technology for the conversion of solar renewable energy to directly usable energy forms and strengthening the relationship between ASTM and SII. ASTM standards for solar technology are under the jurisdiction of ASTM International Committee E44 on Solar, Geothermal and Alternative Energy Sources. The visit was made possible by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of the Middle East.
