ASTM to Welcome Standards Experts from Jordan and Malaysia

Experts from national standards bodies in Jordan and Malaysia will visit ASTM International headquarters from Oct. 24 to Nov. 18. During their visit, the experts will learn about ASTM International and its standards development process, attend the October committee week, visit U.S. federal government agencies and U.S.-based standards development organizations in Washington, D.C., and share information about their work and their home organizations.

Ruba Ayeid Al-Thawabeia is a standardization officer at the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization, where she is responsible for the secretariats of three national technical committees related to the chemical sector: chemicals, cosmetics and fertilizers. Al-Thawabeia is also responsible for standards and technical regulations on toy safety.

Lee Hooi Lan is a senior executive of the engineering standards management and consulting services section, Standards Research and Management Center, SIRIM Berhad, in Malaysia. As a senior executive, she is responsible for overseeing standards development activities for the sectors within the assigned group. This responsibility includes training, subcontract personnel, monitoring projects and maintaining coordination.
