Bolivia Training Course Focuses on Concrete Standards

On Aug. 1-3, Enrique Pasquel, Unicon Research Corp., Lima, Peru, and a member of ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, conducted the training course, "ASTM Cement and Concrete Standards: Relationship to ACI 318," for the Instituto Boliviano de Normalización y Calidad in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. ASTM International and IBNORCA signed a memorandum of understanding in June 2002.
The three-day course was attended by 17 representatives of universities, government agencies and industry. The training covered how ASTM standards fit into project documents and introduced ASTM and the standards development process as well as ASTM Committees C09 and C01 on Cement. The course also highlighted the relationships among ASTM International, the American Concrete Institute, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and ASTM standards referenced by ACI 318, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete.
