On Dec. 18, 2013, a delegation from the Aviation Industry Corporation of China visited ASTM International headquarters to learn about the use of ASTM International standards in federal regulation both domestically and abroad. The discussion focused on the standards of several ASTM technical committees that support aspects of aviation, such as light sport aircraft, aircraft systems and general aviation, which are cited by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The delegation also discussed the process of developing ASTM standards and the value of participating in ASTM's voluntary consensus process to ensure that concerns and challenges faced by the aviation industry in China are reflected in ASTM standards.
