IGCC Public Version 1.0 Now Available for Public Review
ASTM International Is an Original Co-Sponsor of the Code
The first version of the International Green Construction Code initiative, subtitled "Safe and Sustainable by the Book," is now available for public view and comment.
The IGCC was launched in 2009 by the International Code Council with original co-sponsors ASTM International and the American Institute of Architects. The goal of the initiative was to develop a model code focused on new and existing commercial buildings addressing green building design and performance. ICC and its original co-sponsors have now been joined by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, the U.S. Green Building Council and the Illuminating Engineering Society.
The scope of the IGCC includes the following:
- Administration;
- Site development and land use;
- Material resource conservation and efficiency;
- Energy conservation, efficiency and atmospheric quality;
- Water resource conservation and efficiency;
- Indoor environmental quality and comfort;
- Commissioning, operation and maintenance and
- Existing buildings.
