University Students Receive Project Grants from ASTM
ASTM International has awarded five $500 grants to university students to assist them with senior or graduate design projects that contain an ASTM International standards component. The winners' final papers will be posted on the ASTM website.
The winners are:
- Hessam Yazdani, University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla., "Laboratory Development and Advanced Numerical Simulation of Sensor-Enabled Geosynthetics."
- Noam Eisen, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa., "Fully Autonomous Landing of a Fixed-Wing UAS."
- Mohsen Seifi, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, "Fracture Toughness and Fatigue Crack Growth Properties of Al-Mg Alloys after Long Time Low Temperature Exposures."
- Usman Anwar, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, "To Study the Permeability of Rubberized Concrete with and without Glass Fibers and Sealing Agent."
- Harini Ramaswamy, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn., "Exploring the Suitability of Auxetic Polyurethane Structures for the Impact Protective Clothing Applications."
The project grant program is being continued this year, and the deadline for 2014 project grants is Oct. 31, 2014.
