ASTM International’s consumer products committee (F15) has revised its safety specification for bassinets and cradles.

This standard (F2194) covers performance requirements, test methods, and marking requirements to promote the safe use of bassinets and cradles.

According to ASTM member Scott Lewis, the standard has been revised to include a compact bassinet/cradle category. 

“The new standard introduces performance, testing and marking requirements for bassinet/cradle sleep products in which the sleep surface is less than six inches off the floor,” says Lewis. “This new category will help bring many sleep products that had not been part of the standard into it.”
