Exoskeleton Testing and Evaluation

ASTM International’s exoskeletons and exosuits committee (F48) is developing a proposed standard that will provide measurement protocols for reliable testing and evaluation of exoskeletons.

According to ASTM member Sunwook Kim, the proposed standard will help make exoskeleton testing more efficient.

“We’re seeking to answer an important practical question of how many times do subjective and objective tests need to be done to assess the true effect on different exoskeletons during common occupational tasks,” says Kim.

Researcher and practitioners will be able to use the proposed standard (WK83361) to help them design efficient and effective studies that will assess the effects of using an exoskeleton in both laboratory and field environments.

ASTM welcomes participation in the development of its standards. JOIN ASTM.
