Standard for Developing Your Asset Management Career Development Plan

A proposed ASTM International standard describes how to establish and manage an asset management career development plan and provides a clear curriculum for the asset management career path.

The proposed standard (WK59450, Practice for Asset Management Career Development and Training), created by ASTM International’s committee on asset management (E53), will create a set of guiding principles that can be used when beginning a formal training and development program for professional employees engaged in the practice of asset management.

“Career professionals not only manage assets; but may audit or perform self-assessments, develop policies and procedures for the management of assets, and supervise asset management operations,” says Kim Doner, manager, Grant Leading Technology, Riverdale, Maryland.

Doner also says that any organization or individual who performs any form of asset management will find the standard useful.

ASTM welcomes participation in the development of its standards. Become a member here. The next meeting of ASTM International Committee E53 is August 1.
