Zinc Spin Casting
ASTM International Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys is currently working on a proposed new ASTM International standard for zinc alloys being used for spin casting.
The proposed standard, WK30745, Specification for Zinc Alloys for Spin Casting, is being developed by Subcommittee B02.04 on Zinc and Cadmium.
According to Bernard Potts, president of Village Casting Inc., and a member of B02, the use of the WK30745 will allow for the production of castings that consistently meet B952, Specification for Zinc Alloys in Ingot Form for Spin Casting.
All interested parties are invited to join in the development of WK30745. B02.04 is particularly interested in help in mechanical and physical testing of the alloys. The data will help in developing an ASTM specification for the casting produced using these alloys. B02.04 also welcomes participation on currently proposed revisions to B952.
